Farewell Farmers’ Market

The Dixon Farmers’ Market has been a place for local farmers to provide fresh produce to their community for a few years now.  Several farmers attend the Farmers’ Market and provide a variety of foods and entertainment.  The farmers set up their stalls early in anticipation of the crowd that they know will be attending this event in the heart of Dixon.  Delicious foods, like kettle corn, are made on location and sold to everyone.  Competition is always a factor here.  Multiple farmers grow many of the same crops, so finding the right price is important.  In terms of entertainment, many live performances are held at the Farmers’ Market.  Bands often play during the event, and things like trampolines and inflatable jump houses are provided for the children.  The event is held every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. from May 20 to September 23.  It is set up in the Women’s Improvement Park downtown, which is right next to the public library.  Unfortunately, last Thursday was the final Farmers’ Market of the year, but it will be returning next year for another year of food, fun, and entertainment.
