Golf is Here
Boys Golf season is here. The Varsity boys have officially started practice. They had a lot more people go out for the team this year then in previous years. They had 20 people sign up for tryouts, but when the time came only 13 showed up.
Coach Matt Haines kept 6 of the kids for the traveling team and the others will stay on the practice team. The traveling team consists of Garrett Rasmussen, Logan Mitchell, Garret Beal, Darren Freitas, Cody Riede, and Seth Clay. The traveling team is going to Monterey on the 28th of February and coming back on the 1st of March. They will be playing Pacific Grove High school at Poppy Hills and Pacific Grove.
There league starts on March 10 with an away game against Mesa Verde. Their first home game will not be until March 24. They will be playing Christian Brothers.
Since Dixon does not have a golf course, the games will be held on a course in Davis called Wild Horse. This course has many hazards that prove to be a problem for the other teams that do not call this course home. It is usually windy, which also has a big affect on how the balls fly. The total yardage from the blues is 6335. This course is also home to UC Davis team and Davis High team.
The only team that Dixon will play this year that they played last year is West Campus. West Campus also moved leagues along with Dixon. The New league has 4 teams; Mesa Verde, Marysville, West Campus and Capital Christian.
