Apple’s iPad 2: Coming Soon
As most people are aware of, Apple’s iPad is the most successful, and arguably the best, tablet on the market. It takes the technology of the iPhone and iPod touch and applies it into a larger, faster device. On March 11, Apple will release the iPad 2, a significantly improved version of the iPad.
The iPad 2 has been getting a lot of press over the past few months. Apple regularly releases a new version of each one of its successful devices every year, allowing people to speculate over the iPad’s successor since its release.
This new device will be about 33% thinner and 15% lighter than the original iPad. It also will sport a dual-core A5
processing chip, a 9.7 inch high resolution screen, and it will have a 10 hour battery life. Probably the most hyped feature is the two cameras on the iPad 2, one on the front, and one on the back.
The front camera will be used for FaceTime, the popular feature that the iPhone 4 currently has. FaceTime is a video chatting program that allows users to talk face-to-face through their iPads, but this feature requires the users to be in a Wi-Fi hot spot. The cameras both shoot in 720p HD, and an iMovie app can be downloaded for video editing on-the-go.
The iPad 2 is also the flagship for Apple’s new video mirroring technology. With just one cable, users can plug their iPad into their television, and everything that they see on the iPad is also shown on the television. This feature is great for presentations or for sharing photos with your family. AirPrint will also be featured on the iPad 2, allowing users to wirelessly print documents over Wi-Fi with out any cables, drivers, or additional software.
Not only does the iPad 2 come with tons of awesome features, but there are also some really cool accessories that can spice up your iPad. The main accessory that Apple is pushing is the iPad Smart Cover. This is a cover for the iPad 2 that fits snugly around the iPad, and that wakes it up when it is opened and puts it to sleep when it is closed. It also props up the iPad into the perfect positions for typing or watching movies.
The great part about the iPad is all of the apps available for download from the App Store. It also includes a lot of cool app essentials from the date of its purchase. Some of these apps are FaceTime, Photo Booth, iBooks, Find My iPad, Maps, YouTube, Game Center, and many more. Remember, there are also over 400,000 apps on the App Store, so there is something for everyone on the iPad 2.
The iPad 2 is going to be much better than the original iPad. With its many new features and improved old features, it will be well worth the upgrade from an original iPad. Pricing will start at $499.99 for a 16 GB Wi-Fi only model, and $629.99 for a 16 GB Wi-Fi model with AT&T or Verizon 3G coverage. It will be hitting stores on March 11, so be sure to order one online or visit an Apple store at 5 p.m. to get one.
