Big Government Has Gotten Too Big !!!
Has big government gotten too big? I would say yes. I think big government is a good thing to a certain point, but not to a point in which our nation has an economic slide and a debt ceiling that is near impossible to recover from. I mean, who are we kidding when we say that our nation is not in a recession. Have you looked around lately and seen money being thrown around in the streets like it was toilet paper? No! This country is in need of a down grade and fast.
How long is this nation willing to wait to realize that big government has gotten too big and has gotten too expensive? This is a nation that likes to spend a lot of money. Unfortunately, this nation also likes to spend money it doesn’t have, therefore our debt ceiling crisis. If you’re hearing sarcasm then you are getting my drift.
Don’t get me wrong I think it’s the public right to be able to feel secure because the nation is willing to help anyone in their time of need. Do I think social security is a bad thing? Absolutely not! But I do think it has become very expensive, and right now this country has to reevaluate itself to figure out what it needs and what it doesn’t.
The reason why people like big government in the first place is because it’s a security blanket for the weak. Again there is nothing wrong with that. But there is something wrong with more taxes. The taxes in this nation are already high enough. Why does the government insist that we continue to raise taxes annually? If I remember correctly from my 8th grade class, a large reason for this nation to separate from our mother country was because of tax abuse. But for some reason, instead of looking at other angles of this government, this nation continues to attack the middle man for 25% of his paycheck and 8% of what he buys.
Why have we become a nation in which we tried so desperately to separate from? Wasn’t it Thomas Powell that said, “America is the land of opportunity because it applauds the achievements of the individual.” Unfortunately nowadays, the individual man of this nation doesn’t necessarily get pats on the back anymore but “notices of eviction”. Why, as a nation, have we become so big that we can’t see the struggling man? We’ve gotten too big, and now a nation that used to be considered as a protector of the little man is now trying to figure out how to save itself.
It’s unfortunate that something like big government, which was meant to be a good thing, ended up being what has stabbed us in the back. We must find new ways as a nation that is always growing; we should also start learning how to change.
As we grow older as a nation, we should learn that sometimes things don’t work perfectly, and sometimes you have to change to get better. When you fall, you have to get back up, and right now this nation has to get back up.
Those of you who have lost hope in some sort of way must have faith that there is someone or more that can make a difference, and help us make the necessary changes. It may not be easy to change, but sometimes you are required to, whether you like it or not.
So let’s reevaluate ourselves and look towards the future instead of looking at the present. There is hope somewhere, and it is our duty to find it and take it. This is a nation of great people, and it is only a nation that can change together.
Big government has perhaps become a little too big, but it’s nothing we can’t fix. Sometimes you have to live the low points to embrace the high.
So maybe instead of saving one class, we should save all the classes and start a new chapter of the United States of America in which we continue our powerful reign with a new face.
