Athlete of the Week: Channing Madden

Athlete of the Week: Channing Madden

This week’s athlete of the Week for October 28th-November 4th is Senior water polo player Channing Madden. Channing has been playing water polo since his sophomore year in high school in 2009, which was when the sport was offered here at DHS. His position on the team is goalie and with the amazing victories the Rams have had with water polo we can tell he is doing a great job on his position. As always our athlete was interviewed about his athletic background and life. Here are his responses.

When is your birthday?

Channing’s Response: I was born October 28th, 1993.

What is the best part of being on the team?

Channing’s Response: The best part about being on the team is the camaraderie  that we have, and being able to depend on each other and work to be our best. We are always helping each other improve, and always complimenting on our improvements.

What are your goals for this season?

Channing’s Response: Our goals for this season are to win league (which we did), and to win our first game at Sections.

Who is your role model?

Channing’s Response: My role model is my brother, Brennan. He has always been my role model throughout my life.

Here are some of our Athlete of the Week’s favorite things.

Place to eat: My favorite place to eat is the Great Eastern restaurant in Chinatown, San Francisco. There are many great things to eat there, they have amazing dim sum!

Favorite TV show: My favorite TV show right now is Star Trek. But I also enjoy Avatar: The Last Airbender and Community.

Favorite movie: Scott Pilgrim vs The World

Favorite singer/musician: It’s impossible for me to decide because i shift from artist to artist daily. Lately I have been listening to Poison Pit, Stills, and Crosby.

Favorite professional team: I don’t follow pro sports that closely. FC Barcelona is the only sports team that I am really a fan of.

Favorite athlete: My favorite athlete is Alex Honnald, a free solo rock climber. I wish I could live the life he has.

That concludes this week’s Athlete of the Week. On behalf of the DHStelegram we would like to wish you luck the rest of your senior year. Also we all hope you had a happy birthday.

Go Rams!
