Freedom In America

http://neorepublica.com

President Ronald Reagan once said “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” Adding on to that we have taken a scary first step, Socialized Medicine .

When our founding fathers created America, the most left wing father never even envisioned America so controlled by the Federal Government. Clearly this is a slap in the face to the Constitution and the Dreams of our founding Fathers they are probably rolling in their graves.

The Tenth Amendment clearly states that “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Please free me of my ignorance by showing me one place in the constitution where it is mentioned that congress has the right to mandate upon us health care, or to control any aspect of American Medicine.

The argument often given by the left for Socialized Medicine is “Don’t you see the pain of these uninsured people.” Well me denying that in any shape or form makes me sound like a heartless person. No one is suggesting to let people die in pain or have people go untreated for diseases that could have been treated but my Constitutional method is far different than that of the Current Administrations.

In a recent republican debate, Ron Paul was asked what to do with a hypothetical young man who ended up in a coma for six months who would pay his bills. Paul argued that charity organizations would take care of the patient. Adding on to the point if no charitable hospital is able to take care of him then let him spend the rest of his life paying the bills, I am sick and tired of subsidizing someone’s mistake with my taxpayer money. I am sick and tired of people being irresponsible with their life’s and then expecting me to help them out. I will not yield to anyone, including the government, for what I need to do with my life because I know darn well how to run my life, and if for some reason that young man someday turns out to be me do me one favor. Don’t do me any favors.

What is the problem with our health care system right now? The quality is not an issue , it’s the cost that is too much. Why can’t we control the factors that increase costs? Why can’t we cut burdens like taxes that make American medicine so expensive?  If the Obama administration refuses to pick fights with taxaholic congress people, why can’t we go around the problem by allowing medicine to be imported from cheaper countries like our neighbors up north Canada? Why can’t we open up state boundaries and allow for competition amongst insurance companies for our business?

I will also at this point like to cite a study by Hewitt Associates, a consultancy firm, which cites the following: (See page attached)

As much as anyone wants to deny it, this new law is a tax on being alive. Tax by definition is “A fee charged by government on Product income and Activity.” What this law says is that if you want to be an alive citizen of the United States you must buy private health insurance. Now what many argue is that one has to buy car insurance, but why is this a problem? The problem is that I can get out of car insurance by not buying a car I can choose another form of transportation. How do I get out of Health Insurance by dying or leaving the country?

The biggest issue is now coming through. The U.S Supreme chose recently to review the constitutionality of this bill and came to the conclusion that the individual mandate, the heart of this bill, is unconstitutional. The biggest problem I have with this bill is that it is a first step towards socialism. Today it is behind the veil of medical needs tomorrow some bright thinker may come up with the conclusion that we Americans are out of shape. Will it become mandatory to purchase membership to 24- hour fitness? This law needs to be changed if America wants to return to the purpose America was created – To Be Free.
