Lady Rams get another win against the Mesa Verde Mavericks
The Lady Rams go on to win another game in dominant fashion much like their win over Lindhurst; they dominated the Mesa Verde Mavericks 68 to 27. The Rams outmatched the weak Mavericks all game long with their speed and dominating defense. The Rams, much like their previous three games, had great success scoring once again.
The Rams are very reliant on their defense to keep them in games, but their offense hasn’t been at the greatest level all year. But, in the last week, the Rams have really shined on the scoreboard and have worked to get their offense
going. The Rams have moved forward in their offensive scheme and are now putting their new and improved offense to the test.
Despite the domination, this game’s result didn’t begin as well for the Rams as it seemed. The Mavericks came out right away and hit a three to take an early 3 to 0 lead. The Rams though would hit two free throws and a basket from Miranda Williams to take the lead 4 to 3. The Rams would hit the shot and the free throw to open their lead to 5 to 3. The Mavericks then put themselves back in the mix, and tied it up at 5 to 5. However, the Rams would take the lead and never look back as the lady Rams would go on a 12-0 run to close out the quarter up 17-5.
Though the first quarter might have started slow, the Rams came right out and dominated the second quarter. Though they won the quarter the Rams didn’t shoot that well, and only went 5 for 14 from the field, and 7 for 10 from the free throw line. Despite the weak shooting performance in the quarter, the Rams would add another 18 points to the score and would finish the half up 35 to 14.
The Rams, in the first half, relied on good defense to keep their lead in the game, but the Rams shot the ball really well in the quarter, going 7 for 11 from the field and 4 for 6 at the free throw line. The Rams got a great quarter from junior guard, Maddie Dwelley, who scored 11 of her 22 points in the third quarter. The Rams, on the back of Dwelley, would finish the quarter up 55 to 24.

Going into the fourth quarter, the Rams had dominated on defense all game, and got numerous points off steals. The Rams had also kept the Mavericks off the board all game long, but especially in the fourth quarter. The Rams would shut down the Mavericks to only 3 points in the quarter, and only 27 for the game as the lady Rams went on to win 68 to 27.
The Rams played a dominant game on defense, and absolutely wreaked havoc on the Maverick team. The Rams had 27 steals leading to countless fast break points. They got a couple outstanding performances from junior guard Maddie Dwelley, who scored 22 points, and had 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 1 blocked shot. The Rams also got a great game out of junior forward, Miranda Williams, who scored 10 points and had 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 blocked shot, and 11 of the 27 steals from the team.
The Rams are now 3-1 in league and 14-7 overall. The Rams are in second place behind their only loss this year in league, the West Campus Warriors. The Rams need that win over West Campus in order to claim first place and have their beloved home game for the playoffs. The Rams have 6 more games in the season and they need to win every one in order to claim the GEL championship.
