Athlete of the Week: Miranda Williams

This week’s Athlete of the week for February 3rd to February 10th is Junior Lady Rams basketball player, Miranda Williams. Born March 13th, 1995, she has been playing basketball since the young age of 5 years old. All of those years of playing have really paid off for Miranda because she has been one of the top players this season. Now for the Q & A Miranda participated in for this week’s Athlete of the Week.

What is your favorite part of playing basketball?

I like playing as a team and basically becoming family with the girls on the team.

What are your current goals for this high school season?

My goal is to make it to playoffs and pass the first round. Also I would like to win All-League.

What are your plans for basketball beyond high school?

I really want to play for a state, but if I don’t get the opportunity, I plan on coaching and playing inter-menial sports.

Name major accomplishments that you have had in basketball.

I received honorable mention as a sophomore on varsity last year. I won Defensive Player award last year at the Ram Jam. And I won MVP at Ram Jam this year.

Do you participate in any other sport?

I also play volleyball.

Who is your role model?

My role model is my older brother.

What advice do you have for future players?

Always make goals, and always go for them. Have fun and the game will just come to you.

Now for a couple of Miranda’s favorite things.

Hobbies: Working, hanging out with friends and family, cooking, running, and, of course, basketball

Favorite subject in school: History and leadership

That’s all for this week’s edition of Athlete of the Week. Thank you for participating and we here at the telegram wish you and the DHS girls basketball team luck on the rest of the season. We also wish you luck on the rest of your high school years.
