DHS goes all out for Disney spirit day

Is Disneyland in Dixon? Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and other Disneyland characters were at Dixon High School on Tuesday during spirit week. The leadership class has created another spirit and this week it is supposed to be a week about the Valentine’s Day spirit. Though Disney Day doesn’t seem to be a love theme, you can’t deny the love that Disney has brought to the movie screen for years.

Many love characters such as Belle and Pocahontas were all in appearance at the Dixon High School. But none of the men that they are supposedly in “love” with were not present. There was no Beast or Captain John Smith. What were their reasons for not being there? Based upon the enormous amount of teenagers at school, I would assume they were scared away from being tormented or picked on (specifically the Beast).

Beyond the joking, this was a very serious matter to the leadership kids. Despite the majority of the school not dressing up, it’s fun to see how people construct their outfits for the day and attempt to look like their favorite Disney character.

Maybe the spirit weeks are not as successful as some Leadership students might hope if there is no competition to dress up. I believe that the competitive nature of most is pretty strong, and if the Leadership class maybe created this competition amongst the school, perhaps Disney characters would flood the High School. This will let class competitions crash the spirit week as they always do at the end of the week on Friday. So perhaps the spirit weeks can only improve from here, and maybe Disney Day will become a hit success with competition at DHS.

I am making a quest to look for the competitive nature to shine from the Leadership class and to look only to improve on their positive fun ideas such as Disney Day. Wouldn’t it be awesome to know who’s the best Goofy or Mickey Mouse? I think it would be.

So let us look to have a fun and excitinng spirit week and have an exciting and safe rally: Valentine style, Girls vs. Boys.
