Anthony Davis is a very bright young man who attends Dixon High School and goes by the nickname Beckett. Beckett likes numerous types of music and plays various instruments. He has been a part of two bands and has been a featured guest for many other bands. The first band that he was a part of was called Seven Set Lullaby, and later became June Breaks Bright (JBB for short). He also worked on his own solo project called The Bear Who Could Fly.

June Breaks Bright was a band that he played the guitar for. The band had many musical releases for a local band. JBB was a very popular band with many people following them in the area. Their sound was that of a band that could have made it big in the hardcore music scene. Many people supported them and came out to their shows frequently.

A local hardcore Christian band named Kids We Used To Be is another one of Beckett’s bands. This band has spread the word of the Christian faith throughout parts of northern California. He is the guitar player for the band and is very passionate about the music and the message he spreads.

Beckett has guest played with a band called Crush The Adversary, another local hardcore Christian band. Beckett stepped in when their guitarist was unavailable, and with very little time he learned everything that was necessary to play a successful show with CTA. He made no mistakes playing the show. For such short notice, Beckett was very good and fit in the with the band well.

After June Breaks Bright, Beckett started on his solo project called The Bear Who Could Fly. Beckett was singing, screaming, and playing the instruments in this one man band. The songs he wrote told how he feels about numerous things. This project was very emotional and personal, with stories about the world around him and how it treats him. Beckett turned to music instead of causing trouble and wasting time. His obstacles in life have created his passion for music and he uses it positively as an outlet to express himself.

I interviewed Beckett about his musical ventures. ”The Kids We Used To Be is good times with my real friends,” said Beckett when I asked him about his projects. “The Bear Who Could Fly is dead, bears don’t fly anymore.” Beckett said, “Everyone in Crush The Advesary are really cool dudes, and I had a great time playing with them then. June Breaks Bright was a lot of fun, stress, and a lot of things that are too innapropriate to talk about.” He told me that he “plays the guitar, drums, bass, and a bit of vocals.” Anthony Beckett Davis loves music, and will always love it. He is an example of finding hope in something he loves.
