Dixon tennis takes another tough loss to Lindhurst
The Dixon Rams tennis team took another tough loss on Monday against the Lindhurst Blazers, losing 4-5, and the team’s record fell to a 1-5 record overall for the season. The Rams played a good match against the tough Blazers team and nearly pulled off the win. The Rams are still struggling to get wins this year based off of lack of experience and overall team confidence. The Rams lack the necessary confidence in order to win matches, and because of that lack of confidence, the Rams are losing matches that they should be winning.

The Rams won matches from Stephen Lee, who won in two sets 6-3 6-4, Zoe Kratzer, who won in two sets, Joey Hannan and Mykaiah Clermont, who split sets and then won the super tiebreaker 10-7 to win the match, and Ian Domgaard and Jack Bello, who their won their match in two sets 6-3 6-1. These wins for the Rams were big but just weren’t enough to pull out the win over the Blazers.
The Rams first win came from Stephen Lee, who with this win improved to 4-1 on the year. Stephen said that this match was tough because his opponent, out of all his other opponents, had the most power and dominance with the serve. Stephen Lee handled the tough competition well and was able to pull off the tough victory 6-3 6-4. This was a big win for Stephen because it was a big confidence boost for him to continue to play well throughout the season.
The other win came from Zoey Kratzer, who improved to 3-2 on the year after she won in straight sets. Zoey played much better in this match and played with absolute confidence to get this win over her opponent.
The Rams also won both their men’s doubles matches from Joey Hannan and Mykaiah Clermont, and Ian Domgaard and Jack Bello. Joey Hannan and Mykaiah Clermont won their match in three sets. They lost the first 6-7 (1-7 in the tiebreaker) but went on to win the second set , 6-1. They would go on into a tight tiebreaker, barely sealing off the win 10-7 to take the match in three sets to give the Rams their third win of the day.
The Rams got their fourth and final win from Ian Domgaard and Jack Bello, who won in straight sets 6-3 6-1. This win made the #2 men’s doubles team 4-1 on the year and gave them great confidence for the year because they got a quality win over a quality team. Domgaard and Bello played with a lot of determination and took it to their opponents to dominate the second set 6-1.
The Rams would only get these four wins and lose the meet to the Blazers to suffer their fourth loss of the year. The Rams have to learn how to play with confidence, and, if their confidence improves, they could get a lot more wins this season.
