DHS Band prepares for another May Fair parade
The Dixon High School marching band is preparing itself for another May Fair parade. With this huge event being Dixon’s greatest attraction, the marching band has to always put on its best face. While currently in the process of learning and memorizing the songs that will be played in the parade, the crowd will be hearing such songs as “Dynamite”, “Bad Romance”, and “Alright Now”. Students in marching band are getting excited for the upcoming event and are eager to get their 15 minutes of fame in front of the attracting crowds. For band the May Fair parade is considered the most important event of the year because they will be playing on our own turf; they want their friends and family to be proud of them. Some preparations by the band are being made currently for the event. These preparations include memorizing the songs, perfecting the march, all while students focus on finishing their standards of achievements that will soon go towards their final grade. With so much planning, the band is working to make sure their preformance comes out smoothly. With the strong effort and dedication of the students, the band is sure to be perfected by the time mayfair comes. Weekly night practices are held to work on marching and memorization skills. DHS band students are working hard so that they can represent their town as best as they can. The band will be the first to go down Mainstreet on parade day so anyone who will want to see them march will have to be there bright and early. This is truely a can’t-miss performance and a great way to kick off Dixon’s anual May Fair. Being in band myself, I will definitely look forward to seeing you there cheering us on.
