Dixon Rugby Win National Title
The Dixon Rams Rugby team traveled to the national championship tournament where they played three separate teams, all of which needed to be wins in order to win the national title.
The Rams in the first round won their first game in the tournament over Snow Canyon out of Utah with a 20-10 score to advance to the semi-finals. The Rams would then move onto to play Xavier out of Manhattan in order to advance to the finals. Out of all games this was one of the most high pressure games of the year being that one win would take them to the
game they have been looking forward to all year. The Rams did pick up the big win with a 20-12 victory to advance to the finals and live up to their potential.
The Rams would go onto play Penn High School out of Indiana to play for the National Championship game. The Rams needed just one more win to be the National Champions, one win would make sure the Rams wouldn’t regret a loss, because with one win they would have one the last game of the possible season. The Rams with a great victory won 48-11 over Penn High School to become the National Champions or the best in the nation. The Rams wanted that game all year long and the Rams lived up to those expectations that they set for themselves.
The city of Dixon was very excited for their new champions, and in downtown Dixon the team was celebrated for their victory. The city of Dixon were very proud of their Rugby team and showed how much they appreciate the Rams efforts all year.
The Rams did the unthinkable; to win a National Championship is not an everyday thing. The 2012 Rugby team will be remembered for their success for a long time in Dixon, because of this historical team. Dixon has indeed gone National.
