Following will be the May Fair Parade. The May Fair Parade is an organized public procession in Dixon’s downtown district. Free to watch of course.

Section one: Butler Amusement

The Butler Amusement section gives Dixon the entertainment they have been waiting for all year. In this area, we have carnival rides and carnival games.

The Giant Wheel:

The towering traditional ferris wheel that offers the patrons a sweeping 100ft view of the whole mayfair and Dixon itself.

The Thunderbolt:

Exciting high speed ride that moves in a circular motion.(Now forward AND backward)

1001 Nachts:

European thrill ride for fairgoers. Platform ride that goes completely up and around in a swaying circular motion as riders leave their stomachs behind.

Nitro:

Midway favorite ride from italy that lifts riders high in to the air in a swaying motion.the base of five groups of seats begin to spin, giving the passengers a feeling of weightlessness while they soar through the air with their feet swinging free. This ride creates a thrilling, unforgettable experience for its riders

Zipper:

One of the most recognizable attraction in the carnival. While the ‘cages’ holding two passengers each rise and descend on a tower boom, each spins independently and the entire boom turns, too. Three times the action, backed by spectacular lighting bringing them back for more.Once the passenger station reaches the top, it is released in an accelerated freefall and riders experience G-Forces in excess of 3½ times normal.Cliff Hanger:

An unusual amusement ride where, instead of sitting, passengers lie horizontally within the frame of colorful gliders. After riders are buckled in, the ride begins to turn and then rises in the air for a thrilling, soaring sensation before gently gliding back to “Earth”.

Super Shot Drop Tower:

The world-class Super Shot Drop Tower is one of Butler Amusements’ newest acquisitions.Riders are then cushioned by a magnetic braking system stopping the station before it reaches the base of the tower.

Yo-Yo:

Passengers take their seats and then slowly rise into the air and they’re off on a variation of the swing, called the Yo Yo. As it turns the top leans, giving riders the thrill of ‘flying’.

Gravitron (Thriller):

The lights and excitement of the midway literally become a blur as The Gravitron sweeps you off of your feet. Spinning at 24 RPM, The Gravitron uses centrifugal force to float the passengers off the floor, giving them the feeling of weightlessness.

Energy Storm:

Each bucket spins in the air, causing the rider to go upside down, while the main arm spins around to create another spinning sensation.

Scream Machine:

On the Scream Machine passengers are firmly secured in their seats within a train of cars and are taken on a journey that circumnavigates the inside of a giant ring. The train pauses only once at the top before cascading down the track backwards

The Viper:

A colossal ride with a brilliant green snake theme will take riders on a whirlwind journey. The large arm across the entire top of the ride tilts and spins. At each end of the giant arm are two clusters holding two part seating which spin independently as well.

The Wacky Worm:

The Wacky Worm coaster is designed for the whole family. This two level family roller coaster is a great way for the entire family to enjoy the carnival.

The Cyclone:

The Cyclone is a thrilling ride that is enjoyed by kids, teens and families of all types. The Cyclone has 8 uniquely designed spherical passenger vessels each with a capacity of 4 persons. Each vessel includes a centrally located steering wheel which enables the passengers spin the cars themselves. The Cyclone lifts 7 ½ feet into the air and tilts 20 degrees for a terrific ride sensation.Section two: Vendors and Concessionaires

It seems like everyday she has something new to complain about. Complain, complain, complain. That’s all she ever does. I know that sounds awful, but gossiping and complaining are the only thing she knows how to do lately. We’re both juniors in high school and we’ve been dating since we were in seventh grade. I never expected it to last as long as it has, but I also don’t expect it to last much longer.

“Oo-oh, hey! Look who it is. How’s it going twinkle toes?” Brian Johnson cooed at a guy who passed by our table, sticking his foot out and tripping him.

“Brian!” Alexis, my girlfriend scolded him, “Michael, baby help the poor guy up.” I glared at her. I hate it when she tells me what to do, but I got up and helped him anyway. I wouldn’t leave him there to collect his food from the floor right beside me even if she hadn’t told me to help him. “I don’t need any help.” he snapped, pushing my hand away. I hesitated, but continued to help him. His hands were trembling, yet he was still trying to act tough. “Hey.” I said, pushing his hands out of the way just as he did to me, and picked up his tray. “What are you doing?” He asked, looking worried. I motioned for him to follow me as I walked back toward the lunch line, ignoring the glares I was getting from Brian and Allen. They were complete douche bags and I pretty much hated being around them, but in their own way, they’re good company when they wanted to be. “What are you doing, that was my lunch!” he cried when I threw his plate in the trash, making me jump.

“What?” I asked, confused. “I’m going to buy you more. It fell on the ground.” The guy blushed and crossed his arms over his chest, “Why are you being nice to me?”

“Because I don’t have a reason not to be? I just saw you get bullied by two of the people I’m associated with, so I felt bad. They’re obnoxious and I didn’t want you to think that all of us guys on the football team were rude like that.” I explained, “Which reminds me, I don’t know your name. I’m Michael.” I held out my hand. He hesitated, but shook it. “I’m Tyler.”

“I haven’t seen you around much… how long have you gone to school here?” I asked, walking up to the lunch lady and typing in my lunch number in the keypad, nodding at her respectfully. She smiled at me. He said, “I moved here about two months ago.”

“Yeah? No wonder I haven’t noticed you. But if you’ve only been here for two months, how’d you manage to get on Brian’s radar?” I asked curiously, adding “get whatever you want.”

“I trusted the wrong people and now there’s a ‘rumor’ going around saying that I’m gay.”

I hesitated, not sure whether or not to ask the obvious question. I figured I shouldn’t. “Sorry to break it to you, but there aren’t many people that are worthy of being trusted around here. Gossip is like a second language.” He nodded, filling his tray with food quickly, obviously not wanting to waste any time. “I’ve noticed.”

He grabbed a milk and lead the way back into the lunch room, walking towards the opposite side of the room. “Do you want to go sit with us?” I asked, “I mean, I know Brian just tripped you, but he wont do it ever again. I promise.”

He didn’t even hesitate, “No thanks. Thanks for buying me lunch, Michael.” I stopped, frowning. Stuffing my hands into my pockets, I turned on my heels and made my way back to my table, glancing over my shoulder to see that he was sitting alone, picking at his food. With a sigh I slapped a goofy grin on my face and sat back down next to Alexis. “You’re such a pansy.” Brian snapped, scowling at me. “Oh, don’t listen to him! That was the sweetest thing ever.” Alexis said, leaning over and planting a kiss on my cheek. I kept quiet, truly wondering why I hung out with these people.

I bit into my apple, ignoring everyone completely. Alexis had a hand on my back, rubbing in small circles. For a moment I felt like brushing her off, but decided against it, the bell was going to be ringing in a few minutes anyway. I knew I needed to break up with her before I really started to hate her, but I wasn’t sure how. No matter how I choose to do it, it’s going to hurt her and that’s the last thing I wanted to do. Knowing that, how much longer can I wait without going crazy? I feel miserable as it is, and the longer I wait, the worse it gets.

The bell rang and I knew that I needed to do it now. I can’t wait a second longer. We got up and headed towards her fifth period class, her friends still chatting it up with her. I mentally shooed them way, ready to murder everyone who prolonged this moment. Finally they left and Alexis turned to me, planting a kiss on my lips before I could stop her. I stumbled backwards, causing her to lose balance and almost fall. I caught her, but held her at a distance so she wouldn’t mistake that I had purposely backed up. “What the heck, Michael.” She snapped, adjusting herself. I took a deep breath and let it all out in one long, run-on sentence, “I don’t think I can do this anymore, the stress of being in a relationship right now is going to kill me and to be honest all you do is complain and it annoys me to no end and I’ve thought about this for a while and I couldn’t figure out how to say it and I know this isn’t the best way, but it’s the only way I can think of.” I sighed, “I’m sorry, but I really want to break up. This isn’t going to be just a break, this is it.”

She blinked, obviously unsure what to say or how to react. She kind of glanced around the busy hallway and down at her shoes, then up at me again. “This is… it? As in, you’re breaking up with me?” She asked, her voice breaking the tiniest bit. It almost broke my heart. The last thing I wanted was to make her cry. “Yeah. I’m breaking up with you. And I know this is the last thing anyone wants to hear after they’re dumped, but… I would really like to continue being friends.”

Alexis then did something so surprising that I almost stumbled again in shock; she leaned into me and planted a hard kiss on my mouth, like she was trying to kiss away what had just happened to her. I finally pulled away from her and said, ” I’m sorry but, there really is no way that we are going to be able to work this out, we have different morals and I can’t continue to let you tell me what I should do in my life.”

Her face fell, a tear slipping down her cheek, “But what about all we’ve been through together? All the good memories! Think about it, Michael!” She sobbed. I looked around, grimacing at how many people were trying to listen into what we were saying. “I have thought about it. More than anyone could ever imagine, but every time I think about it the ending is the same. Please stop crying, Alexis. Everyone’s staring.” I said softly, glaring at a group of girls who were plainly staring at us, listen to everything I was saying. They looked away, continuing down the hall. Alexis sniffled, “So, there’s absolutely nothing I can say to change your mind? Nothing I can do?” She stepped close to me, but I backed away, shaking my head slowly. “There’s nothing.” I said, turning and walking down the hallway towards my fifth period class. I wasn’t completely sure that leaving it like that was the best thing for us, but what else could I say? Telling her there was nothing she could do to change my mind was the best end to that conversation that I could think of.

I stepped into my classroom and sat down in the first chair I came to, for once feeling appreciative that we could sit wherever we wanted to. I didn’t feel like sitting in the back with Christina, Mary, and Ryan. I laid my head down to emphasis that I just wanted to be left alone, just in case one of them thought they would come talk to me.

My last two classes flew by pretty fast and I avoided everyone I could manage, slipping out the back exit of the school and walking around the parking lot to my car. I hopped into the drivers seat and threw my backpack into the backseat, started the car and turned my music up while I waited for the line of traffic to clear. In the end, I got to work about twenty minutes early.

My boss, Juliet, looked at me with arched eyebrows, obviously surprised that I managed to get here before my shift started, which never happens, but she didn’t say anything. I was thanking God that she could sense my bad mood, because I’m not sure what I would have said if she had made a snide remark like she usually does. Truthfully, she’s one of the coolest people I know. One of the only people I trust with my life. I’m pretty sure that if she hadn’t of taken a liking to me I wouldn’t still have this job.

“Okay, so I know I should probably continue to stay quiet like a smart girl, but we both know I’m not the slightest bit smart, so I’m going to ask the obvious question. What’s wrong? Why are you here so early and where’s the real Michael?” She asked, walking towards me, hands on hips.

The corners of my mouth twitched, “Nothing’s wrong.”

“Lies. Don’t you dare lie to me, young man.” She said giving me a stern glare. I scoffed and rolled my eyes, “Sorry, mother.”

“That’s more like it, now tell me what’s wrong and don’t give me that ‘nothing’s wrong’ bull.”

“I broke up with Alexis, alright?” I said, glaring at her. “Happy now?”

“Very. But I don’t understand, I thought you’ve been waiting for the chance to leave her? She makes your life a living hell.” She said, looking as confused as she sounded.

“I know, I know. It doesn’t make sense that I’m as upset as I am, but you should have seen her face. After 5 years of being with someone the last thing you expect is for it to end, right? You could tell that she was definitely not on the same page as me. In fact, she looked heart broken and she even made a comment about doing whatever it took to change my mind. She may be a lot of bad things, but she isn’t one to say something like that. She wouldn’t result to that kind of thing just to get what she wants. I know she wouldn’t.”

“And how, might I ask, do you know that she wouldn’t? If I’m understanding correctly, you two have been growing farther and farther apart for quite a while. And if she hasn’t noticed that, then it must not be too important to her.”

I hesitated, knowing that what she said was true. “Besides, who’s to say she hasn’t been spreading herself around since you began to pull away? No one!” I shook my head slowly. She wouldn’t do that, would she? She isn’t like that. She’s never been like that. “Nah, I know she wouldn’t do that.”

“Michael.” She said, pausing for a second, “Just think about this. You’ve been wanting to break up with her for months. No, not months.. almost this entire year. You can’t seriously say that there isn’t a part of you that’s completely relieved to be rid of her.”

I frowned, “You talk about her like she’s a dog.”

She snickered softly, but turned away from me, walking to the cash register to help out a customer. I shook my head again. She’s such a fowl person sometimes. When I first met her she was such a sarcastic person that it got to the point that you always thought she was being sarcastic.

I shook my head for what felt like the millionth time since I got here and smiled, surprised to find that I actually feel a lot better. For the first time in a while, I felt like everything might be okay. No more stress. No more drama. Just me and the last two years of my highs school education.

Credit to Natalya Royuela who helped me out with this one tremendously! Thank you so much, Natalya!

On April 19, 2013, the new Tom Cruise movie Oblivion was released to all American theaters for everyone to watch. This movie was eagerly expected and received a very good score, a 7.2 out of ten, for good action adventure and…. mystery? Tom Cruise is the main character in it with supporting actors and actresses Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Andrea Riseborugh, and others.

Set in the year 2077, earth has been attacked by aliens and the aliens blew up the moon and destroyed the world by causing natural disasters instead of actually invading, but they somehow stay on Earth even though humans won the war. With everyone else dead or gone, Tom Cruise/Jack Harper, and Andrea Risenbourgh/Victoria are the only two people left on the planet because no one else can fix a few drones that are protecting sea water pumps that are pumping earth dry of all her water because that is somehow needed on their new home planet which is actually Titan, one of the moons around Saturn. How they were getting the water to Titan is anybody’s guess. Everyone else is either on a huge space station with bad reception somehow even though its the future, or on Titan, one of Saturn’s moon.

The movie clearly indicates something’s wrong when they say that they’ve had there memory wiped but can still somehow remember things. And Tom Cruise/Jack somehow has a New York hat he found out in the middle of a ruined New York. Also, instead of trying to fight off aliens that have tried to kill him, he picks up random books from the ruined library. This movie is PG 13 because it has sci fi action, sort of swearing, and partial nudity. It cost over 120 million dollars worth to make!!! But, it is a very good movie with a lot of surprises but you can easily guess the ending after a while and they don’t really make Andrea/Victoria a very likeable character at all not even once does she do something that is heroic but the actress did a good job in the part. All in all good movie which I guess is worth seeing if you are a Tom Cruise fan or like Sci Fi and/or Mystery because you will get a lot of it but it has not to much of sci fi action and it is mostly talking but there’s good action there but nothing like Star Wars or Star Trek (sorry those who like that type of stuff). Its a good movie to watch either now, or you can Netflix it for later if you who do not appreciate watching movies at the theater or can’t afford to go to the movies.

Cinco de Mayo—or the fifth of May—celebrates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867) which was a war between France and Mexico. It’s a minor holiday in Mexico. However, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has become a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations. Chicano activists raised awareness of the holiday in the 1960s and the celebration has taken off and become a day of celebration and festivals. Cinco de Mayo traditions include parades, mariachi music performances and street festivals in cities and towns across Mexico and the United States. With lots of food and traditional dances too.

So how did this celebration come to be and why did it happen? In 1861 the Benito Juárez became president of Mexico. The country was deeply in debt and the President defaulted (didn’t pay) the debts Mexico owed to Europe. So France, Britain and Spain sent naval forces to Veracruz to demand payment. Britain and Spain negotiated with Mexico and left, but France, ruled by Napoleon III decided to use the opportunity to try to take part of the Mexican territory. Late in 1861 the French fleet stormed Veracruz. 2,000 loyal Mexicans drove back the 6,000 French troops from the town of Puebla de Los Angeles (not the LA in CA). Even though this was small victory it represented the power of what the Mexican people could do against a larger force. Six years later the French completely withdrew from Mexico. Many people outside Mexico mistakenly believe that Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican independence, which was declared more than 50 years before the Battle of Puebla, but really it is about a minor victory in a larger war that showed how a dedicated group of loyal people could defeat a larger outside force.

Here in Dixon you can celebrate Cinco de Mayo by visiting one of the many Mexican restaurants in town. Another event here in town is the Cinco de Mayo Festival at St. Peter’s Catholic church. The festival includes food, entertainment, and activities for the whole family. Another way to celebrate is by hosting your own celebration to honor the victory of the Mexican army at Puebla de Los Angeles.

Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of Great Britain, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013 at the age of 87 from a stroke. Margaret Hilda Roberts was born on Oct. 13, 1925. She was loved and hated by many, regardless of how people felt though, Margaret Thatcher was a key political person and changed things in Britain and around the world. Known as the “Iron Lady” she ruled as Prime Minister for 11 years. During her time in office she was responsible for breaking unions, winning a war, and selling off state owned industries. She believed in a small government and individual responsibility.
Those who loved her said that she was “a savior who rescued Britain from ruin and laid the groundwork for an extraordinary economic renaissance.” Her critics said she was “a heartless tyrant who ushered in an era of greed that kicked the weak out onto the streets and let the rich become filthy rich.” She was seen as a tough lady who was not afraid to take on hard issues and push through what she thought was the best plan for doing whatever it was that needed doing. She often appeared not to care about the people who were hurt along the way. She was very loyal to her country and rebuilt England’s image in the world from a rundown broken country back into a world power.
Margaret Thatcher was the first, and only, female prime minister in Britain’s history. However she never saw herself as a feminist and wore dressed and carried a purse even when meeting with other leaders from countries around the world. Her father was a grocer and raised her to believe in a society that rewarded hard work and determination.
She was close friends with former President Ronald Reagan, and like him believed that free markets would build a better country than reliance on a strong, central government. She also believed that you could solve a problem by reducing it down to its basics, choosing a path, and following it to the end, no matter what the opposition.
She never let Britain be pushed around and would act with military force when required like taking back the Falklands Islands in 1982. Her win in the Falklands helped her to gain a majority in the House of Commons and allowed her to continue her work. She was also an early supporter of Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. She believed that he was someone the west could work with and really helped him to gain acceptance in the western world.
Thatcher set about changing decades of liberal ideas about Britain’s welfare state and socialist traditions. This made her hated by those who wanted to keep government in charge of taking care of everything. She is perhaps best remembered for her position during the coal miner strike when miners went on a 51-week strike in March of 1984 to oppose the government’s plans to close a number of mines. The miners battled police on picket lines but couldn’t beat Thatcher, and returned to work without gaining any concessions and Thatcher successfully broke the union and changed the way unions worked in Britain. Her changes to the economy made London the “rival of New York as a global financial center.”
Many of Thatcher’s beliefs were shaped in part by the traumatic events during her childhood. When World War II started, her hometown was one of the early targets for German bombs. Her belief in the need to stand up to aggressors came from the failure of Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain’s attempt to calm Adolf Hitler down rather than confront him.
Thatcher went to school at Oxford and started her political career in 1950. In 1951 she met and married Denis Thatcher. She had twin boys two years later. She won election to Parliament in 1959, and joined the Cabinet as education secretary in 1970. As prime minister, she sold off British Telecom, British Gas, Rolls-Royce, British Airways, British Coal, British Steel, the water companies and the electricity distribution system among them. She was proud of her government’s role in privatizing some public housing, turning tenants into homeowners.

In 1984 she survived an assassination attempt by the Irish Republican Army that nearly succeeded. The IRA detonated a bomb in her hotel in Brighton during a party conference, killing and injuring senior government figures, but leaving the prime minister and her husband unharmed. She served a third term as Prime Minister beginning in 1987, but was voted out by her own party a few months later because she was trying to revise the way taxes were collected in the country.
After leaving government service she continued as a public speaker and wrote several best-selling memoirs. She suffered a stroke in 2002 that ended her public speaking career. Her husband died the following year. They had been married more than 50 years. During her final years she suffered from dementia and her public appearances became increasingly rare.

The British government says former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s funeral will be held April 17. Her body has been moved from London’s Ritz Hotel, where she died Monday. Officials say Thatcher’s funeral will be held with full military honors at St. Paul’s Cathedral. It is not technically a state funeral, which requires a vote in Parliament, but is the same level of honor given Princess Diana and the Queen Mother Elizabeth. Her coffin will lie overnight at the Houses of Parliament before the funeral, and then travel on a horse-drawn gun carriage to the cathedral along a route lined by military personnel.
Whether you liked her or not she changed the way women were viewed as leaders and changed the face of Great Britain.

Earlier this week the people from Morning View Studios sent a letter to the Dixon Patch and Dixon Tribune addressed to the people of Dixon. In the letter they talk about the delays they have faced in getting started on building the studio including things like Proposition N, the holiday slowdown, and delays in getting agreements to purchase the needed property to build the studio. They say that although they have been delayed in starting the project they still plan to complete the project by January 2015.

The project includes a complete movie studio including sound stages, prop making, and special effects. The studio is huge and will cover nearly 500 acres when finished and will be located on the southwest side of town surrounding Pitt School Road. The cost of the project is expected to be somewhere around $83 million dollars. A lot of people ask “Why Dixon?” We are a small town kind of off on our own. Why would someone want to build such a big project here? The studio has said that the reason is simply that Dixon isn’t Hollywood. It’s a small town and brings a sense of creativity in a simpler place. The studio will be available to rent and just about anyone could come to Dixon to make a movie. Dixon is also centrally located in Northern California and think of all the locations nearby that could be used for shooting scenes. We are close to the ocean, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, mountains, deserts, rivers, and towns are all around us. There’s farm land and cities, plus tons of people who would probably love to be an extra in a movie. If they need to go to Southern California we aren’t that far away and Sacramento International and San Francisco International are close by. They could even fly into the Nut Tree airport if they were using smaller planes.
While bringing such a huge project to Dixon will change our small town think of all the benefits. Jobs will be created both at the studio and in town. The studio estimates that 1,000 jobs might be created. Restaurants and shops can open to serve the increased number of people coming to town both as permanent employees and as visitors working on projects. Houses will be built for people wanting to move to town which will bring in extra money in the way of development fees and property taxes which can be used to improve the town and its schools. Maybe the studio could even work with Dixon High School to provide internships and other opportunities for students interested in working in the film industry. Who knows we might even have some celebrities passing through town and stopping in at a local eatery for a quick bite.

As with any big project there are people for and people against the project. Some of the people against the project just don’t think it will ever happen and that people are getting their hopes up and will be disappointed. Others worry about the changes to our small town. My mom’s in favor of the project, but she’s worried about the traffic that might be created. Right now rush hour is when school starts and ends. What happens when there are a thousand more cars coming and going through town? The people for the project see it as a huge opportunity for Dixon to show what a great place it is to live and work. The project brings new life to the town as well as the opportunity for growth and jobs. How many Dixon grads could end up working at the studio? Obviously we will have to wait and see how things progress, but it would be silly not to look at the positives and opportunities that might come with such a special project.

They have been running every Tuesday Thursday and Sunday at 6:00am and practicing ever Monday and Wednesday

These rugby players have been pushing them selves to the max with also on top of all of that they still manage to find time for school and hitting the gym. To win a national championship it takes heart and dedication you can’t just show up and expect to win on good looks. The girls team has also been working out with the boys to stay in shape for the rest of there season. They hope to win the rest of there games and go to play offs and win it all!

I interviewed Sammi Lyons today who is a new player to the Dixon rugby club she is a outside center and a wing. She thinks rugby is and I quote “I like how physical it is an how you can just take all your anger out in someone but in the end of the game you all get together and are friendly and eat together”. I also asked her if she thinks her team is ready for playoffs? she said “Yea we are totally prepared we have been working hard and running in the mornings”. Sounds like the girls are ready to play some rugby. The varsity boys played two times this past two weeks one team from Australia and another team from New Zealand. They where both pretty close games unfortunately we lost both but the guys played really hard and good rugby.” That’s all for this week but there will be more updates on the Dixon rugby team coming soon!

Northwest is one of the more popular parks. People who visit there play soccer, football, jog, walk their dogs, or just relax after school. Given that it’s by both the middle school and Silveyville, kids from both schools sometimes walk over there to hang out or get picked up or to take a short cut when walking home from school. It’s a good spot for sportsand for others it’s good place for rest and relaxation.

Patwin Park is in the neighborhood by Tremont Elementary School and many who live there use it as their own park. One of the smallest parks in Dixon, not many use it except for those who know that it’s actually there and who live near to it and don’t feel like going to the other parks or if they have to walk their dog. The park has a great play structure for kids and lots of lawn for them to run around on. It is also very clean.

Hall park is the one most used after school because it’s right by Dixon High School. This park is bigger than Northwest and as used as Northwest. This park also includes our swimming pool and skate park areas. The park also has many softball and Baseball arenas to play in for those sports leauges. It also includes a dirt road for adventurous bikers who are skilled at riding, a play area for little kids, and a dog park. There are also tennis courts, barbeques, and paths for walking on. The Dixon Senior Center is located at the edge of the park by City Hall. This is a great park to take your family to for a picnic or just to hang out.

Veteran’s Park is the last park on our list. It is mainly for children to play safely but, it is also has a soccer field and basketball courts. There are several great play structures, picnic tables, and paths for walking on. It’s also a good spot to watch the Fourth of July with whomever you usually watch 4th of July with.

All these parks are perfect for relaxing and a little fun and entertainment. However, not everyone you see at the park is there for the scenery and relaxation. Drugs, sex, violence and other crimes have been reported out of the park but the number of crimes is mostly around Northwest and Hall but they are still safe to go to but have caution if going at night alone. Through it all we have many fine parks to go to and they are all quite clean too. There is no huge amounts of trash to be found in any of these parks thank to the maintenance and other citizens who clean up. Dixon has many wonderful parks with lots of great things to do at them, e are fortunate to have such great places to relax and enjoy our Town.
